How to give alternate reading text [InDesign CC accessibility]

Hi,

I've one basic question which I'm not able to figure out.

I'm working on making InDesign document accessible where I stuck when Read Out Loud is not reading the story having special character in it. For example; "If your item isn’t mapped, it’s right where you’d expect!" has couple of special characters in it while converting it to accessible PDF this text was not being read by ROL. My question here is, Can we add alt text anywhere in InDesign that would be read by ROL rather then reading same content as it happens in HTML, for example I could rather add something like "If your item is not mapped, its right where you would expect!" for reading purpose.

Thanks in advance

Mac
