I had this exact same problem on Acrobat Pro XI, Windows 7 64 ... "The document could not be saved. The file may be read-only.. "
Solution for me...
Right Click File in Explorer > Select Properties (Bottom of Context Menu) > General Tab > Attributes, Un-Check Read-Only .... Solved.
