Some years ago, when PPro CS6 arrived marketplace we are happy about new features, but very dissapointed about the lack of support of MPEG files .
We threwouta lot of moneywhenwe bougththeCS6suite, anda lot of angerwent through it, and ended up havingto go back toCS5.5.
Nowthree yearslater, with the opportunity to testat no costtoso-calledCreativeCloud 2014(PPRO 8.8.2) , 13 daysago we installedon twoediting stationshere in our studio,in two workstations, onerunningwindows 764-bit and oother running64bitwindows8.1.
Twopowerfulmachines with Dual XEON 10 cores procesors with128GBmemory, Nvidia Quadro 6000, Tesla Board, raidetc.. A very powerfulworkstation. No words, no buts, no maybes about hardware.
Toour sorrow, still does notsupportMPEG files.
We Invest inSONYcameras, each one costingmore than US$26,000, andthey produceMPEGfiles, and with theSLOGoption we can get up to 220Mbits/s.
TheCS5andCS5.5, work beautifulywell without problems, clangs and ratlings, and no problems at all, andallcodecsandpluguins we use, works well, but in theCreativeCloudpluginsdo not work, nothing ofcodecsthat comes with thesoftwareto function properly, norH264accompanying thePPROCC2014works. Areallydisappointment..
It'sa real shame, because this is very sad that Adobeinsists on thisline.
WeSONYusers, we concludedthatthereshouldbea splitbetween thecompanies(Adobe and SONY), which will forceus to beeternallystuck inCS5.5, until anotherNLEto appearon the market and this will render that the enormous work and effort by Adobe toestablish itself asthe bestNLE, will be for nothing .
Searching for support , we realise that the MPEG files is not the expectected, or theses files , or they are not completely the MPEG that expected by PPro !!!! ( SIC ).
it is as ifIproducea paintedyellowpencil, but it is not THEpaintedyellowpencilthat Adobehoped to see....A crazything like that. The suggest to comvert files to other format , prior to use....
Some nonsenses like this one . leads the user to search other tool to work .
In terms offinancial loss, this timewasonlythe cost ofthecomputertechniciantoinstall and configurePProCC2014, and the electricity, and the time that workstation had to be unused , and other minor values.
In the nextMonday, he will cometo remove thePPROCC2014, and we will continuewith thegood oldCS5.5. Its is like MS witn windows XP ans 8 or 8.1. The insistence in errors leads user to be conservative.
So windows 7 still prevails for next 10 years. we will see this to happen.
Some times in the next 10 years, with version 12 , or 14, or 19, PPro will resume support of MPEG files.
Or other option , since we wont be stuck here. maybe we will goes do Avid MC7. of with maturation of LIGTHWORKS from EditShare, we can get a more modern NLE .
We area smallPostproductionstudioinBrazil, we are nothingtoAdobe, just anotheruser whowasnot answered.
We know thatour opinionwill never beheard byAdobe, and shewill do nothing, but we stillinsist tomanifest our oppinion.
