Is there some way to manage and modify the chart legend within the chart tool? I want a small tight legend in top to bottom order.
As it is:
1. Since the legend is separate pieces of text, If I move them closer together, they revert to being spread out again when I update data.
This is extremely inefficient if I have to make the same adjustments every time I edit. Perhaps I'm missing something.
2. The legend items are generated by illustrator to read in reverse order. We do read left to right & top to bottom so first items should always be on the left or the top. How do I make Illustrator automatically apply legend names top to bottom. That's how my clients want them and, again, I have to completely rework the whole legend by hand every single time if I can't make it generated the logical way.
3. The legend text keeps reverting to a specific spot that is too far to the right. How do I make it appear where I want it without doing it by hand every single time?
4. Illustrator manages to make the legend match the bar colors but it can't change them together? That seems wrong. Am I missing something?
I know I can just make up a legend outside of chart but I want a template, essentially, so I can make many graphs without going through all that extra work changing the legend every time. As it is, when I change data the legend reverts to being too spread out between items, too far to the right and in the wrong order.
