Chris, the above is very good advice. On the subject of photograph choice, look hard at the facial expression. Notice the closed mouth on the Nas image. Then look at the mouth on your example, which is by far the least appealing feature of your drawing. Even if you became a master of illustrating beautiful smiles, the best ones would be lips-together. Teeth and gums are most often freakkin' UGLY, and get only more so in hard-edged vectors. Resist the temptation to base your drawings on runway/red carpet shots as you have here. They are almost always horridly unflattering.
