As part of Adobe's effort to fix a problem with the perpetual license copy of Acrobat Pro XI on three of my Macs, and failing, they suggested I download and install the CC version. I had previously reinstalled the perpetual version...several times.
I ran the uninstaller included in AP XI, and at the tech genius' suggestion deleted all Acrobat folders I could find.
Then I attempted to install the CC version, which triggered an update to Adobe Application Manager (which, BTW, crashed one Mac so bad I had to restore the whole boot drive. Great stuff). Once I ran AAM, it shows, proudly, Acrobat XI Pro under installed apps. Even though it isn't.
Rooting around, since I got zippo help from Adobe, I found a "cleaner" application for this problem...on Windows. But nothing for a Mac.
AAM shows "new versions" for my CS6 applications (PS, AI, ID), but not for my LR 5 installation; it lists LR 5 under "Find new apps." I had done a trial of the Photographers LR/PS subscription, but never downloaded either since I already had them...and didn't trust CC. Whew. I got no popups or other indication that this was a problem.
I can't get back to the original support guy who ran a screen session with me, so I wonder where I'll go from here. I'd like to fix this in case I ever decide, however unlikely, to go CC. I'm suspecting it has something to do with BOMs or receipts, but I can't find anything relevant almong all the chuff the sorta-un-installer left behind, and I don't wanna bork my other Adobe applications by randomly jettisoning stuff.
And BTW, the problem persists over different user and different computers.
